Analog CCTV Upgrade Bali – HD Replacement Systems | BaliCCTV

Upgrade old analog CCTV to HD or IP in Bali. Reuse existing coax cable with HD-TVI systems or full IP replacement. Better image quality, remote view.

Old weathered analog CCTV camera next to a new IP camera

Many Bali villas have old analog CCTV systems — grainy 700TVL cameras on DVRs that are 8–10 years old. The image quality is below the level that's useful for incident investigation, remote view wasn't available on the original setup, and parts for the old system are no longer obtainable. The question most owners have is whether they need to replace all the cabling as well, which significantly affects cost. In most cases the answer is no — existing RG59 coax cable can carry HD-TVI or HD-CVI signals at 1080p or higher, meaning new cameras and a new DVR can be installed on the original cable infrastructure at a fraction of full-replacement cost.

Upgrade Options

HD-TVI / HD-CVI Upgrade

Replace cameras and DVR while reusing existing coaxial cable. HD-TVI (Hikvision) and HD-CVI (Dahua) technologies transmit HD video over standard coax — same cable, dramatically better image. 1080p or 4MP resolution on existing infrastructure. Most cost-effective upgrade path when coax cabling is intact and correctly routed.

Full IP Replacement

Complete replacement with IP cameras, PoE switches and NVR. Best when existing coax routing is inadequate for current coverage requirements, or when remote viewing and analytics capabilities of full IP systems justify the additional cable installation cost.

DVR/NVR Replacement Only

Where cameras are in reasonable condition but the recorder has failed or lacks remote view capability, recorder-only replacement is the most cost-effective option. Modern DVRs support remote smartphone view even for existing analog cameras in many configurations.

Cable Assessment

Before recommending an upgrade approach, we test the existing cable runs for signal quality and integrity. Bali's climate degrades coax cable — connectors corrode and cable insulation hardens and cracks over time. A cable assessment determines whether the existing infrastructure is worth retaining before committing to an upgrade approach.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I keep my existing coax cable when upgrading from analog to IP?

In most cases yes. HD-TVI and HD-CVI cameras transmit HD video over standard RG59 coaxial cable — the same cable used for your existing analog cameras. This means you keep your cable investment and the upgrade cost is primarily equipment (cameras and recorder) rather than full reinstallation. We test cable quality before confirming reuse.

How much does an analog-to-IP upgrade cost in Bali?

For a 4-camera system reusing existing cable: typically IDR 3,500,000–6,000,000 for cameras and HD DVR or NVR, plus installation. We provide a specific quote after checking your existing cable condition.
